Zagreb's route runs from Mirogoj Cemetery through the Upper Town to the green squares of the Lower Town, about 7.5 km. The bonus stop, Mirogoj, is known for its long arcades and domes; from there you walk down to the Upper Town for St Mark's Church and its tiled roof, the Stone Gate with its candlelit shrine and the Lotrščak Tower, where a cannon fires at noon every day.

The red umbrellas of Dolac Market sit above Ban Jelačić Square, the city's main square, and the twin spires of the cathedral rise over Kaptol. The second half follows the Lenuci Horseshoe, a U of parks and squares: Zrinjevac with its music pavilion, King Tomislav Square, the Botanical Garden and the yellow Croatian National Theatre. The funicular from Ilica to the Lotrščak Tower is one of the shortest in the world, a one-minute ride.
