Bled's route circles its glacial lake, with the island church in the middle and the castle on its cliff, about 9 km with a short excursion to the Vintgar Gorge. It starts at the Ojstrica viewpoint, a short steep climb for the postcard view of lake, island and castle together, and follows the shore to Mlino, where pletna boats leave for the island. The Straža hill rises over the south-east shore.

The lakeside promenade passes the old Grand Hotel Toplice and the café at Kavarna Park, where the Bled cream cake is said to have been first served in 1953. St Martin's Church and the climb to Bled Castle on its cliff come next. The bonus stop is the Vintgar Gorge, about 4 km north, with wooden walkways over the Radovna river; it charges an entry fee and is closed in winter. The whole lake loop is about 6 km and flat.
