Bratislava's route links the Danube riverside, the small old town and the hills above it, about 7.5 km. It starts at the bonus stop, the Eurovea riverside promenade, and passes the Blue Church, an Art Nouveau church painted entirely in blue and white. The Slovak National Theatre, the Roland fountain on the Main Square and Michael's Gate, the last surviving medieval gate, lead to St Martin's Cathedral, where Hungarian kings were crowned for almost three centuries.
The climb to Bratislava Castle gives the best view of the Danube and the UFO Bridge, whose saucer-shaped tower is the next stop. The route then heads uphill through the newer town to the Grassalkovich Palace, the upside-down pyramid of the Slovak Radio building and the Slavín war memorial above the city. The old town is small enough to see in an hour; the last climb to Slavín is steep but short.
