This walk follows Prague's classic route from the New Town over the river to the castle, then back along the Vltava to Vyšehrad. You start under the statue of St Wenceslas at the top of Wenceslas Square, pass through the Powder Tower onto the old Royal Way and reach the Astronomical Clock on Old Town Square. Charles Bridge takes you to the Lesser Town, where the John Lennon Wall and the green dome of St Nicholas are a few minutes apart, before the climb to the castle gate with its fighting giants and guards.

From the castle the route crosses Petřín hill to its lookout tower, a small copy of the Eiffel Tower, then comes down to the river at the National Theatre and the Dancing House. The bonus stop is Vyšehrad, the old fortress on its cliff south of the centre. Petřín has a funicular if you would rather ride up, and Charles Bridge is far quieter before 8 in the morning.
