Mostar is built around its Old Bridge over the green Neretva, and this route covers the town in about 2.5 km, an easy hour. It starts at the bonus stop, the Spanish Square with its neo-Moorish gymnasium, a reminder of the front line that split the town in the 1990s, and reaches the Karađoz Bey Mosque, the largest Ottoman mosque in the region. Muslibegović House is an Ottoman family house with a walled garden, and the Orthodox Cathedral stands on the east bank.

From the courtyard of the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque you get the classic view of the Old Bridge, rebuilt in 2004 after its destruction in 1993; in summer, local divers jump the 20-odd metres into the river once enough money has been collected. The little Crooked Bridge over the Radobolja and the Franciscan Monastery, whose slim bell tower can be climbed, end the walk. The cobbles on and near the bridge are polished and slippery.
