This route runs north through Warsaw from Łazienki Park to the rebuilt Old Town, about 8 km. It starts at the Palace on the Isle, reflected in the park lake, and the Chopin Monument nearby, where free piano concerts are held on summer Sundays. Up the Royal Route come Savior Square and the Palace of Culture and Science, the Stalin-era tower that still dominates the skyline.
On Krakowskie Przedmieście stand Holy Cross Church, where Chopin's heart is kept, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with its eternal flame and the Presidential Palace. The Royal Castle and Sigismund's Column open onto the Old Town, rebuilt after 1945 from paintings and old plans, with the Mermaid statue in its market square. The red-brick Barbican and the bonus stop, the Warsaw Uprising Monument, end the walk. Buses along the Royal Route save the first long stretch.
