Toledo sits on a rock in a bend of the Tagus, and this short route, about 4 km, crosses it from the river gorge to the walls and back. It starts at the bonus stop, the Mirador del Valle, the postcard view of the city from across the river; reach it by bus, taxi or a walk along the riverside path. Inside the walls, the cathedral's tall Gothic tower, the square Alcázar on the highest point and the triangular Plaza de Zocodover are close together.

The little brick mosque of Cristo de la Luz, from the year 999, leads to the Puerta de Bisagra, the main gate in the walls. The route then crosses to the Jewish Quarter: Santo Tomé, home of El Greco's Burial of the Count of Orgaz, the synagogue of Santa María la Blanca and San Juan de los Reyes, hung with chains of freed captives. It ends at the medieval Puente de San Martín. The streets are steep; public escalators climb from near the Bisagra gate.
