Córdoba's route crosses the old town from its northern wall to the Roman bridge and the Jewish Quarter, about 4.5 km on flat but narrow streets. It starts at the bonus stop, the octagonal Torre de la Malmuerta, and passes Plaza de las Tendillas, whose clock chimes guitar music, the big arcaded Plaza de la Corredera and the little Plaza del Potro, mentioned in Don Quixote.
The Mosque-Cathedral is the centre of the walk, entered through the Patio de los Naranjos, the courtyard of orange trees; it is free to visit early on most mornings outside mass. The Roman Bridge leads to the Calahorra Tower on the far bank, and the route returns past the Alcázar of the Christian Monarchs to the medieval synagogue and the Almodóvar Gate in the walls of the Jewish Quarter. In May the city's flower-filled patios open to the public; in summer, walk early.
