Palma's route runs from Plaça d'Espanya through the old town to the seafront cathedral and up to Bellver Castle, about 5.5 km. It starts at the statue of King Jaume I on Plaça d'Espanya, near the train and bus stations, and passes the bonus stop, the Mercat de l'Olivar, a covered market of fish, ham and fruit. The arcaded Plaça Major and the town hall square, with its ancient olive tree, lead to the Basilica of Sant Francesc.

Palma Cathedral, La Seu, rises above the old sea wall, and its reflection in the lake of the Parc de la Mar is the classic photo. Along the waterfront come Sa Llotja, the Gothic merchants' exchange, and Es Baluard, a bastion turned modern art museum. The last stop is the round Bellver Castle on its pine-covered hill above the bay; the climb is steady, and the views over the harbour are worth it.
