Corfu Town is a Venetian, French and British town between two fortresses, and this route covers it in about 5 km. It starts at the walls of the New Fortress above the old port and winds through the lanes to Kremasti Square with its Venetian well. The red-domed bell tower of Saint Spyridon, the island's patron saint, rises over the old town, and the Liston, an arcade built by the French and modelled on Paris's Rue de Rivoli, lines the Spianada, the great square where cricket is still played.

The honey-coloured Palace of St Michael and St George, built for the British high commissioner, the small Town Hall Square and the Old Fortress on its own island across a moat follow. The bonus stop is Mon Repos, the neoclassical villa where Prince Philip was born, in a park by the sea south of town. The old town's lanes are a maze; getting lost is part of it.
