Antalya's old town, Kaleiçi, sits inside Roman and Seljuk walls above a little harbour, and this route covers it in about 2 km, an easy hour. It starts at the bonus stop, Karaalioğlu Park on the clifftop, with palms and a view across the bay to the Taurus mountains, and passes the round Roman Hıdırlık Tower on the cliff edge. The Kesik Minaret, a ruined building that has been a temple, a church and a mosque, stands in the middle of the old town.
The Old Harbour, below the cliffs and full of excursion boats, is reached down steep lanes or by a lift from the cliff top. Republic Square, the fluted brick Yivli Minaret, the symbol of the city, and the stone Clock Tower lead to Hadrian's Gate, the marble triumphal arch built for the emperor's visit in 130 AD. Summer days are hot; the cliff paths are best in the early morning or at sunset.
