Luxembourg City sits on cliffs above two river valleys, and this short route, about 3 km, uses them for its views. It starts at the bonus stop, the Philharmonie on the Kirchberg plateau with its forest of white columns, and the Dräi Eechelen fort with its three round towers. Across the valley, the Bock promontory holds the casemates, tunnels cut into the rock, and the path drops into the Grund to Neumünster Abbey by the river.
A lift and steep lanes lead back up to the Chemin de la Corniche, called Europe's most beautiful balcony, then to the Grand Ducal Palace, Notre-Dame Cathedral and the golden woman of the Gëlle Fra on her obelisk. Place d'Armes and the great stone arch of the Adolphe Bridge end the walk. Public transport in Luxembourg is free for everyone, including the trams and the lifts between the valleys.
